Case study 1: Chase Jarvis

Chase Jarvis' speech -- explained how creativity is the new literacy.

Taking nothing and making something. It sounds funny but full with information. In my opinion, making something is easy and no easy, it depend on what kind of things you want to make. Usually, we make something because we need it, so it should be useful, then it should be beautiful, also we hope it be creative. But how to do that? What we should take for that? However, I think taking nothing is on the right way, sometimes, we have to start from a very isolated position, and do not know too much.It is important for making something creatively. Just like a child, which is I want to talk in the next point.

Imagination > Knowledge As the viewpoint above, I am going to talk about the education system in China. Like the small interaction in the speech, I found we can make some ingenious things when we were 6 or 7 years old, before we went to school. And after that, the education system killed our imagination, which I had experienced in the student life.Because in China, education system just focus on knowledge and the grade of exams. Students have huge burdens on so many exams, they just listening the lectures and doing homework. They are not questions, no criticisms, even no imagination, because they do not have time to do that! Maybe, in some ways, it is a good way to get knowledge well. But for me, I hope education system is a good tool for children to explore their potential and help them to create more wonderful things for our world. So we need more imagination rather than knowledge.
